Who We Are...
The Shreveport Orchid Society is organized to:
1) Promote fellowship among those interested in orchids.
2) Preserve and extend knowledge concerning the cultivation, hybridization and uses of orchids, and to carry on such activities as may be necessary to accomplish these purposes.
Our Members...
The members of the Shreveport Orchid Society hail from all over North, Northwest, Northeast, and Central Louisiana with a few from East Texas and Southern Arkansas in the mix. Our group consists of people from all walks of life; the common thread being an enthusiasm for growing and flowering orchids.
A few of our members are experts, with some novices. Most are somewhere between these extremes. We join together for fellowship and the opportunities to learn more about orchids. Members are encouraged to bring blooming plants for display and an informal judging during the monthly meetings. Consequently, a large variety of species, hybrids, and inter-generic hybrids are always available for viewing.
